National Relays
We entered eight teams from EETC into the
National Relays (500m swim, 15km bike, 5km run), and each and every one was a
credit to the club. The ladies (and mixed teams) started in the morning and
Dave, a true Knight in shining armour, stepped into the Blues and Twos Team
after a drop out at the last minute. All three teams raced
brilliantly, and a special mention to Clare Talbot competing in her first
triathlon. The afternoon saw the turn of the male teams. The Youths were raring
to go in their attempt to better their second place of last year, and although
they all performed magnificently, they again came away with silver medals.
(Although they are a true club team and the winners are a sponsored team.) There
was a slight rivalry between the Budgie Smugglers team and the Bobby Charltons,
however it was the Crash Matts who were the next team
home, not even the Big Engine, running the last leg could catch them. Dave Knight, in his second race of the day,
started off for the Hairy SixPacks and the two
rookies, Michael Baynes and Greig
Avery both competing in their first triathlons, kept up the pace for Steve
Fisher to come roaring home in great EETC style.
The support crew were fantastic – and could
be heard across the lake!
If
Carling did support crews……they still wouldn’t be as good!
WELL DONE EVERYONE!!
Not content with racing just once at the weekend, Graham and Andy
D also entered the Nottingham Tri (750m/20km/5km) on Sunday at the same venue.
