EAST ESSEX TRI CLUB - RACE REPORT

Ladies Time Trial 02 July 08 by Zena Shean A few hardy souls turned up for the Ladies time trial at Hanningfield last night.. A general discussion up the pub in a pre-arranged ladies lunch ensured everyone knew the correct location - although Dianne had tried hard to keep it secret. The pub lunch also prompted the competitive spirit in Jan and Chris and deeming it unladylike to race down lunch, waited for a head to head later that evening. So with the sunshine drying out the roads, after the torrential downpour, the ladies time trial began. Two minutes seperated Jan and Chris, with Dianne in the middle, and the race was on. There were some fast, short stretches of road and needless to say our friend, the wind, was out to support us yet again! Anyway Jan arose the victor, but the tussle had helped Dianne to a 50 second pb over this course! Elsewhere on the course, Stuart Jago was substantially held up by Zena and her lack of cornering skills, prompting him to offer her - in a very gentlemanly manner- additional training! However it did hinder his chances of trying to obtain a time any where near that of his son Danny. Danny has missed the Friday Ladies run session so much he really thought he would rather time trial with us than the guys! Another family battle out on the course, was Will trying to escape Mum! Not sure what he had done but Dawn was chasing hard and Will was not going to be caught! Some of this story may be slightly exaggerated!
