Tri Club goes from strength to
strength
The 3rd round of the Eastern Region Series
was just up the road at
Coopers
School
,
Upminster, so the early start was almost respectable this time.
The morning’s races got off to a cracking start with Abigail Brown once
again holding off the advancing Emma Rata in the Girls Tristart (8) category.
This time though her winning time was only 1 second faster.
See the photo for that close finish!!
Melissa Cowell improved upon her 5th at Rayleigh with a hard
earned 3rd.
In the Boys Tristart race, Adam Woodcock once again was
2nd behind the Rayleigh and
Cambridge
winner TSE’s Charlie Davies. He
narrowed the gap however, being only 32 seconds behind.
In the Girls Tristars 1 (9/10) Ellie Jade Smith went 2 positions and 11/2
minutes better than at
Cambridge
with a 9th place finish.
Boys Tristars 1 saw George Smith making it 2 wins in a
row, winning by 50 seconds. Alex
Cowell was 5th less than minute off 3rd place and Matthew
Woodcock was just behind him in 8th place out of 16.
The Girls Tristars 2 (11/12) race saw an excellent
performance from Nikki Twine coming in 1st place, 5 seconds ahead of
TSE’s Neha Dabhi. Nikki, on one of
the club bikes that are available for hire, improved her cycle time
considerably. (Last week on her own
bike she was 2 mins behind Neha in 3rd).
Verity Goodey in her 1st ever triathlon came a very promising
7th.
The Boys Tristars 2 saw our biggest entry with 6
competitors. William Muggleton
lead the team home with a 5th place, closely followed by George Moxon
6th, Jack Hudson 7th and Taz Porter 10th.
Only 36 seconds separated them.
Matthew Brown and James Woodcock, showing great determination, battled it
out for 22nd and 23rd respectively.
In the Girls Tristars 3 (13/14)
Hannah
Preedy
up against the might of TSE’s 14
year olds came 9th, 3rd out of the 13 year olds.
In the Boys Tristars 3, Harry Smith back from what was
believed to be cramp last week, returned to form, coming 2nd.
Hugh Smith and David Moxon, who did not compete at
Cambridge
,
came a creditable 7th and 13th respectively.
Michael Moxon who was having difficulties on the bike leg, was
unfortunately unable to finish.
In the Youth category (15/16) Jake Pettet racing in the colours of EETC
for the first time, came a very respectable 5th.
Finally, did I see the now almost obligatory bonfire, near the car park
towards the end? It looked a lot
bigger than
Cambridge
’s!!!!
